Been a while since I updated my thread. Here are my latest sports-related hauls for the past quarter of 2008:

Ateneo Adidas UAAP 2008 Replica Nonoy Baclao

This one took a very long time, thanks to Adidas' slowness. Got it from Jersey Haven, wore it during the Blue Eagle Bonfire last October. What a way to honor the 2008 UAAP Finals MVP who thrives in defense (I love his facial on Maierhoffer too in Game 1! hahaha!)

Sadly, this jersey seems to be oversided for me. I should have ordered for L instead of 2XL. I went for 2XL since I'm basing my jersey size on the width (and Adidas' 2XL has a circumference of 44 inches). This type of jersey should be a tight fitting one than loose. Thinking of disposing it when the UAAP fever comes again. Any interested takers? Razz

2008/2009 Nike Team Pilipinas Gear

L-R: Shorts (L), Jersey (L)

MY GIRLFRIEND IS THE SWEETEST. EVER. She gave me a complete uniform of Nike Team Pilipinas: the shorts for Christmas, and the jersey for my birthday (my birthday and Christmas are 3 days apart, and people keep on giving me combined gifts. Thank God she knows I hate that!). When these came out back in November, I was hesitant to buy one because of the hefty price tag and my favorite players Caguioa and Hontiveros aren't included in the line-up. Lo and behold, my girlfriend bought it for me (well I wished for it, hahaha!) Smile

Nike Park in Bonifacio High Street offers free printing of numbers on the jerseys as long as the jersey was bought in a Nike store (Nike Park or Stadium), but my GF bought mine at Planet Sports, which disqualifies my jersey for the promo. I don't mind it anyway, since as I've said Caguioa and Hontiveros aren't on Yeng Guiao's line-up (if they were included, I would have asked Nike to print either 4 or 7 on the jersey).

I love the fit of the jersey on me. Tight-fitting. It's gym-inspiring, haha!

Accel Revelation Shoes

These came out back in mid-2007, but it took me more than a year to buy it. Been concentrating my expenses to toys and my Accel blue basketball shoes collection took a backseat. Price was a bit heavy for my taste then (2500php), but when I saw this on sale (with a ridiculous 60% discount) on some shoe shop in SM Megamall, I didn't hesitate to buy it! Big bargain for 1100php despite the shoe being the last pair and was on display.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for blue and white shoes. Not because of my alma-mater, I've been an addict of blue since birth Razz

yeah, i really love the Nike jersey. I didn't realize how nice the jersey was until the time I actually owned one. Smile

regarding the jersey, sure i can buy it for you as long as you can wire the money. wala problema sa akin. Smile

sana lang mag-fit sayo (I think you're slightly bigger than me). Right now puro XXL nalang nakikita ko sa stores, baka magkarestock naman soon Smile

si baclao, he's really a great defensive player who intimidates the opposition. he's not really known for scoring pero he's there for the rebounds and blocks. i know you're not a fan of overhyped admu-dlsu games, pero here's a clip of the last 5 minutes of UAAP game one, including the clinching block on maierhoffer (who has been taunting him all day long kaya sinigawan nya):

he blocked 7 shots in that game, including the clincher on hoffer. followed it up with 4 blocks in the second (controversial) game to win the finals MVP.

mas nauna ako naging jersey collector than toy collector. kaya paeasy-easy rin ako sa jersey collection kasi mahirap pagsabayin with the toys. Razz

parehong mahaba galamay siguro, hehe! he's sparingly used by Welcoat/Rain or Shine in the PBA.

i just don't know if they'll do restocks in Nike stores in here. hopefully they do. they also offer print services for free in Nike Fort, you can have your fave number (0-99, all positive integers. hahaha) printed.

Robert Jaworski: The Basketball God Has Arrived
July 8, 2009

This was the most awesome experience I've had over the past month, finally meeting Robert Jaworski. I've been chasing him since I started asking for autographs for my basketball memorabilia. This happened during Game 4 of the PBA Finals between Barangay Ginebra and SMB. I had to beg the ushers to let me in the ringside section (and I admitted I was seated in the Upper box section) just to take my idol's autograph.

He just finished signing an autograph for someone as he talked to Commissioner Sonny Barrios beside him, and I introduced myself to ask for his autograph. He asked for my name (he got it right this time!) as he wrote a long message in my book. I don't even know how to break the silence while he was signing, except I told him "Ang tagal ko po kayo hinintay para mapa-autograph yan." I should have asked him "Hindi pa po kayo officially retired diba? Baka pwedeng one last game in a Ginebra jersey naman." As he signed my two books, Commissioner Barrios pointed to Jawo that I'm even wearing my Toyota shirt! He must have signed it long enough that I was panicky not to disturb him as second quarter was under way, but when he was done, I shook hands with him (embarrasingly with almost tears in my eyes but my chinky eyes covered them) with a big smile as I thanked him. He was gracious enough to accept the gratitude as he said "Mabuhay ka, Carlo!" and when he noticed my shirt, he tapped me on my shoulders.
